How do I order a book from the VU Bookstore?
To be able to order you must create an account. You can do this during the ordering process.
Will I receive a Track-and-Trace code?
You will receive a Track-and-Trace code via email from PostNL when your package is packed and ready for shipment. You can look up when your package will be delivered on the website mentioned in the email.
What do I pay for shipping costs?
The shipping costs are €5.95 regardless of the size of the order.
Who supplies the books?
The VU Bookstore packages your order and prepares it for shipping. Delivery is made by PostNL.
I received the wrong book, what should I do?
If you have received the wrong books, please contact us by email or telephone. We will help you as soon as possible.
My order is not complete, what should I do?
It is possible that books from your order are not yet available. These books will be sent to you as soon as possible.
How long does it take for a book to be delivered?
We deliver books that are in stock the next working day. We can therefore deliver almost all textbooks very quickly. If the books are not in stock, delivery of Dutch textbooks takes two and non-Dutch textbooks three working days; exceptions.
I have not (yet) received my order, what should I do?
You can see online whether your order has been shipped or is still being processed.
If your order has the status 'sent' in your account, but you have not yet received it, first check the Track-and-Trace code you received in your mailbox. If you have not received your order three working days after it was shipped, you can send us an email. In order to serve you as quickly as possible, we kindly ask you to include your order number in the e-mail.

How can I pay?
You can pay with Ideal or with a credit card (VISA or Mastercard).

Where can I find information about my invoices and payments?
You can view the status of your orders online and view your invoices via my account. Have you forgotten your password? Request it online via forgot password.

Your payment will be processed immediately after you have paid online via bank or credit card. Your payment will be processed by Worldline and B.V. You can see that you have paid electronically by a statement on the invoice and an email that you receive from the bank.

I would like a copy of the invoice. How do I get it?
You can easily download a copy from my account.

Can I still change the details on my invoice?
You cannot change the invoice yourself (online). If you want a custom invoice, you can contact us by email.

I have returned my item. When will I get my money back?
We strive to refund returns as quickly as possible. After we have received the books back and you have not received anything after a week, you can send an email stating your name and the details of your order.

How can I cancel my order?
You can cancel your order during the ordering process. To do this, remove the books from your shopping cart. Have you already paid and still want to cancel? In this case, please contact the VU Boekhandel as soon as possible. Please state your order details in the communication.

I canceled my order, but the book was delivered anyway. What should I do?
If your order has been delivered despite a cancellation, the order was already too far in the process to be able to cancel. In this case, please contact us by email. Please state the order details in the communication.

Which textbooks can I return?
You can return undamaged books according to articles 6, 7 and 8 of our Delivery conditions Under the Distance Selling Act, the buyer is obliged to examine upon delivery whether the goods comply with the agreement. If this is not the case, the buyer must inform the seller in writing or by e-mail within ten working days of receipt. If it has been shown that the goods do not comply with the agreement, Kraket has the choice to replace the relevant products with new products after their return or to refund the invoice value thereof.

If you want to return a book, you must enclose the purchase receipt (a copy) with the shipment.

Which textbooks can I NEVER return?
Except for technical defects, books sold sealed (plastic wrapped) and no longer sealed will NOT be returned. Books with a code will never be taken back! Returns are only accepted if the goods are undamaged.If the books are not returned to us in new condition, we reserve the right not to refund 20% of the purchase price.

Please note! Study books will NEVER be returned in the last week before the exam or when the period is over.

NB! Second-hand books are NEVER returned!

Who pays the return costs?
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
Returns are at the buyer's risk. This means that the VU Bookstore is not liable for damaged or lost returned items. Therefore, always ask for a Track-and-Trace code.

Do I automatically get my money back when I return an order?
If your return meets the above conditions, the purchase price will be refunded to your bank account.

Does the VU Boekhandel have a guarantee on my articles?
All items you purchase through the VU Bookstore website are subject to the legal rules of warranty. This means that an item must be in good condition. If you receive an item/book where this is not the case, we will be happy to help you find an appropriate solution. We can send a replacement item, or refund the purchase price.

I ordered books, but they arrived damaged. What should I do?
You have the right to return damaged books purchased from via within 5 working days. You can return the book by mail.

How do I create an account?
During the ordering process, enter your address details and choose the delivery method. You can then view and change your details via my account.
Next time you order, you can also make changes to the delivery address and billing address.

Ik ben mijn wachtwoord vergeten, wat moet ik doen?
Via my account on the website you can easily retrieve your password. After entering your email address, you will receive a password reset link by email.

I have moved, where can I report this?
You can change your details the next time you order. Would you like to have your book delivered somewhere other than the address you gave when you placed your order? If so, please contact one of the order staff members. Please include your order information in the communication.

I have a different e-mail address, where can I pass this on?
You can change your information the next time you order.

Ik wil mijn bestelling op een ander adres ontvangen dan mijn thuisadres. Is dat mogelijk?
You will receive the books at the address you provided when ordering. Is this non-address incorrect? You can update your address information in my account or contact me via email.

Study books can be purchased online here.

Can I see which textbooks the VU Boekhandel has in stock?
You cannot see on our website which books are in stock. But you can count on the fact that actually all textbooks for the current and upcoming period or block can be delivered within two or three business days.

I have ordered a textbook, the course has already started, and I have been waiting for my delivery for several days. What now?
There may be some delays in the delivery of textbooks. We make every effort to have the required textbooks in stock and deliver your order as soon as possible. Usually, if you don't have it, no one else will. We do our best to deliver everyone the book as soon as possible. In case of problems we inform the teacher.

I bought a textbook, but I want to quit the course. Can I still return the book?
You may return textbooks in exceptional cases in consultation with a VU Bookstore staff member.

I'm going to take a course, but I can't find it on the website. What should I do now?
Some subjects do not require books. Therefore, those subjects are not listed on online. It is of course possible that a course is not listed and a book is required. We would like to hear about that mistake via:

I would like to buy all my textbooks at once, is that possible?
You can buy textbooks for the whole year, but we strongly advise against it. Not only is it expensive, but you are taking a risk. This is because sometimes there are changes in the prescribed literature, or new editions of books appear. This can then mean that you buy the wrong book, or that you have bought a book you don't need at all. If you order books by the semester, you will always be in the right place!

How much discount do I get on my textbooks if I am a member of a study association?
If you are a member of a study association, you get very high discounts on your textbooks. get very high discounts on your textbooks. Do I also get a discount on textbooks I buy at the VU Bookstore campus store if I am a member of a study association? Does the VU Bookstore also sell used textbooks?
Used books are sold online through the student union website. The store on campus also sells used textbooks. However, you must be a member of a study association to purchase used books at the VU Bookstore.

Can I sell my used textbooks through the VU Bookstore?
You can offer your textbooks that you no longer need here. It is easy and you will receive the money as soon as your book is sold.
