Our world is characterized by scarcity and surfeit: too much carbon, pollution and concentrated wealth; a shortage of livelihoods, safe water and security. In response, the authors develop the idea of a âmodest imaginaryâ, showing how it differs from modern and anti-modern approaches to sustainability and offers alternative ways forward.
